How to support Android users remotely. Part 1

Don’t be afraid of long lists of applications in reviews like “10, 20 or 30 best tools for Android remote control \ support”. In fact only a few of them really suit this task, and just a very few can do it for you for free.

The well known Team Viewer is there as well. Moreover there are a few different applications under the common brand name. Let’s look at some details. The next screenshots will be partly in Ukrainian as it’s my native language (and the language of my smartphone too).

You may exclude “TeamViewer for Remote control”. It’s probably workig well, but it’s working vice versa: it should enable access FROM your smartphone TO PC.

IT guys joke

Currently Ice Drive is one of the most noticeable and promising players on the tight and difficult market of cloud services . This is not an advertising, though I like how they build their brand and develop features of their cloud. I really enjot it.

However I should admit, guys from IceDrive are notable not only for their professional attitude, but the lambent Welsh humor as well. Below is their announcement regarding a planned maintenance and the following conversation.

So what about Jetpack?

Below are a few screenshots from a fresh and empty WordPress site with already installed Jetpack plugin and from Google Play with Jetpack screenshots on Android. It’s just a free version of Jetpack, no payd plans are activated. Hope these pictures explain why this plugin is so desired. As for me I don’t imagine how I could go without some of its features.

“If you’re familiar with WordPress, you’ll be right at home”

At some moment I realized that I want an additional lightweight web browser. Surely, Firefox and Opera are great, but at times I need a lot of open web pages connected through different VPN locations etc etc, so I’ve started my investigation. I’ve tested Brave, Pale Moon, even Sea Monkey (yes, it’s still alive and regularly updated, I would recommend it for old’n’slow computers), but Vivaldi did look for me as the most interesting option.

Yes, the browser fits my requirements almost perfectly, it easily imports Chrome extensions for various VPN services, Evernote, Sticky Password, it’s even nicely localized. So I am pretty happy with it (except the issue with eBay captures, which I hope will be solved sooner or later). But it presents also a couple of nice bonuses. One is their web based email (like <username>@vivaldi.net) available for every registered user and another is named “My Blog”.
